SUMMARY
The fodder Oat variety “Central Fodder Oat OS 424” is suitable for timely sown, normal fertility and irrigated conditions for Hill Zone of India Himachal Pradesh (J & K and Uttrakhand) conditions of India. Central Fodder Oat OS 424 gave 296.5 q/ha green fodder yield which is 15.8% and 15.6% more than the national checks Kent (256.0 q/ha) and OS 6 (256.4 q/ha), respectively. It showed superiority of 12.5% green fodder yield than the zonal check SKO 90 (263.6 q/ha). Variety Central Fodder Oat OS 424 gave 65.1 q/ha dry matter yield and it out yielded the best national checks Kent (55.3q/ha) by 17.6% and OS 6 (55.9 q/ha) by 16.4%. This variety out yielded the zonal check SKO 90 (58.3 q/ha) by 11.7%. Variety Central Fodder Oat OS 424 also gave 23.3% higher per day productivity of GFY over best national check Kent while it gave 11.2% higher GFY per day productivity over the best qualifying variety SKO 225. The variety Central Fodder Oat OS 424 gave a seed yield of 13.5 q/ha. The variety Central Fodder Oat OS 424 is at par with checks and other entries for Powdery Mildew. The variety responded significantly up to 120 kg N/ha for GFY and DMY both. The variety Central Fodder Oat OS 424 is good in nutritional quality as well by showing 8.9% crude protein which is at a par with the national checks Kent (9.0%) and OS 6 and zonal check SKO 90 (8.7%). It was almost at par with the checks and qualifying varieties for NDF and ADF %.
